Grmbrg 34 is a small system that would normally be insignificant, except for it's location. This
system lies right on the border of unknown space and is a good jump point to other nearby systems. It is a two star system, a binary
system, each star being called simply Star1 and Star2. The European Coalition and
the Chinese Empire which have both laid claim to Planet Icarus.
Until recently no one gave a damn about this system until one planets was discovered to be Earth
like, and thus able to support life. After a long debate in the Galactic Senate, it was decided that both the European Coalition and the Chinese
Empire would have rights to colonize this planet. "An effort to spread the multinational personality of the human race," they
said. The result was minor skirmishes, mainly over mining rights to the ore rich land near the equator of the planet. The European
Coalition strong arms it's way into bringing a small force to the planet and in the course of a battle, they destroy the Scientific
Exploration Space Station Kiang, killing over 400 Chinese citizens.
The Galactic Senate called for a Cease Fire, agreed to by both parties, it went largely
ignored on the planet. Supplies arrived on a daily basis and the battle's escalated until much of the planet's surface was devastated
during the six year war. The galactic society ignored the war, and when the planet was deemed worthless and unable to support human life,
the two governments pulled their forces from the system. Fearing the truth about the planet would finally come out and the Senate would be
forced to act, the withdraw was amazingly quick and many troops were left stranded on the planet.
Today, the stranded troops and the few stragglers left from the mining colonies still
live on the slowly dying planet, trying to make some form of life for themselves. Debris from the various craft and warships still float
in orbit, occasionally coming crashing to the surface in a blazing fireball. The atmosphere has been devastated and weather is
inconsistent and very erratic.
Just recently, a gateship was dispatched to the Grnbrg 34 system. The gateship is
now in place and operational. It is believed that it was sent there for a jump point to another system. All stories about this
are unconfirmed at this time.
Marr'aheb have just recently laid claim of ownership for Zeno-Frodd. A planet with some rich
resources. This could be why they have put the gateship here. Only time will tell.
