While still very strong, this nation of united states, has fallen behind in the colonizing of other world, surprising for a nation noted as having a wild, explorer like attitude. Making up for this lack of governmental control out side of the core systems, this nation's corporations have spread  around the galaxy until there is no planet, colony  or space station that is without the presence of at least one American company [baring those that are closed to free trade, of course].
    Each governing body of the union is still based on the age old pattern used since the beginning of it's creation: states. Each colony or space station may apply for statehood under the Untied States of American Space Statehood Charter adopted in 2387. Today states are on Uranus, Pluto, Geneva [in Bernard's Star] and the entire planet of New America is comprised of states.

The American Senator in the Galactic Senate office is currently Senator George Washington Jefferson III.
