Since they retook the Korea Peninsula in the late 2020's Japan has regained much of their previous glory and economic power. However, they have never been able to completely acquire their own habitable planet and this has hampered their attempts to move to the front of the Galactic table. The purchase of the resource planet QW34, renamed Nagasaki, has provided the Empire with a staging point for the many planned exploratory missions in the future.
    Today the merchant fleet massed around the space station Yokahanna [in orbit around Nagasaki] is admired for it's advanced systems and excellent design. The fleet enables the Empire to compete with other nations and enables it to be considered a very strong economic power, even though it's own military might is questionable.
    The Revolution of 2180 brought the royal family back into power, the last known descendant and first Emperor Akihito, was placed in power by old conformist revolutionaries. The parliament was abolished and he was made supreme ruler of the nation of the sun, even though he was only seven at the time. Merely a puppet leader controlled by the Shogun Council, a group of powerful businessmen. In 2193, when Emperor Akihito had his Shogun Council assassinated, he gained complete control of the government.
