The awesome Gateships are largest ships ever built. It has been said that, it can house over 1 million people in the living sections. Most Gateships have various shops, and many levels of living areas. At any one time, a Gateships will have have 20 - 100 other ships docked, and waiting to go, to another system. They are very busy places, and have become the central point, of inter galactic trade.Description: (Main Ship)
The ship is over 6 miles long. Most of the space is taken up, by the huge reactors towards the center of the ship, they make up about 4.25 miles of the ships length. Near the back end of the ship, is the Science Sections, they make up about 1 mile of the ships length. The living quarters, shops, and docks, make up the front of the ship. They make up about .95 miles of ships length. Each section is easily, visible from one another.Description: (Gate)
The gate itself, is an extension off the main ship body, near the front end of the Reactor Section. It is a huge open square when it is inactive. When active, one side you see nothing but a cold dark blackness, while the other, you see the stars, ships, and planets from the other Gateship (that it is linked to). The gate measures approximately 1/2 mile by 1/2 mile. Which is large enough for some of the largest of vessels to easily pass through.Other info:
The space folding schedule is limited to how long it takes to power back up. It is said that it takes from 5 to 8 hours to power up and for the folders to rest. The schedule of where and when each space fold is to take place, is divided up amongst the other Gateships. If you were to miss your scheduled transport, through the gate, you would have to wait up to 3 days, to make the next. Most transports are there, about 1 day early. This is to make sure that they would not miss the next opening.
The gate remains open for about 1 hour, before being closed for re-powering, for the next scheduled opening. The opening of the gate, is synchronized with the other Gateships, on the other end. This is done to provide a longer opening of the gate, other wise, the gate could only be held open for a matter of minutes, before collapsing. It is also uncertain, where that opening maybe. You could be off target, by as many as 25 light years. The calculations must be exact, and within 1/billionth of a unit.
Most of the technology for the space folding, is housed, in the large mid section of the ship. There is several huge reactors, for the massive power that is required. This is used to amplify the fold to enormous sizes. The elemental development station, is housed on the back side of the station. This is where the create the extra heavy element, that is used to focus the mental projection. A select few members of the Marr'aheb, known as the Folders, are men and women with abnormal mental abilities, that create the actual folding of space. The secrets of the whole process is actually done, are patented and protected by Marr'aheb. People who try to steal the secrets of the Marr'aheb, usually end up, in a state of mental dementia, after the attempt, which always fails. No one else has been able to replicate the actual space folding, except for the Marr'aheb. There have been many attempts, but all have ended in disaster, some even blame the Marr'aheb for these accidents. None of which has ever been proven, except for human error.
